BEAT TAPE is a physical-only collection of original music, beats, sketches, environments and sonic experiments created by Logan Richardson in Hollywood, California between March and July 2026.

Existing somewhere between beat record, compositional notebook and sound archive, the project documents another side of Richardson’s practice—music made through instinct, production, sampling, rhythm and the immediate possibilities of the studio.

There is no digital edition.

No streaming release.

The cassette is the work.

Created as an object in an era dominated by unlimited digital access, BEAT TAPE returns the listener to a different relationship with recorded music: two sides, a defined sequence and a physical artifact that must be held, played, turned over and experienced from beginning to end.

THE OBJECT

Limited to 1,000 physical copies worldwide.

Each cassette is individually signed and numbered by Logan Richardson, transforming the edition from conventional merchandise into a documented physical work from a specific period of his creative practice.

Once the edition is gone, the original pressing is complete.

Across eighteen pieces, Richardson moves through rhythm, abstraction, melody, repetition, distortion, electronics and fragments of musical memory.

The pieces are concise by design.

Ideas arrive, establish their world and disappear.

Rather than expanding every musical thought into a conventional composition, BEAT TAPE preserves the moment when an idea first becomes alive—the space between sketch and finished work, accident and intention, production and composition.

The studio becomes an instrument.

The beat becomes a score.

The cassette becomes the archive.

PHYSICAL MUSIC IN A DIGITAL WORLD

BEAT TAPE was conceived specifically as a physical release.

The decision not to distribute the project through conventional streaming platforms is part of the work itself. Access is finite. The sequence is fixed. Ownership means possessing one of the objects through which the music exists.

There are only 1,000.

Every copy occupies a numbered position within that edition.
